Slashed on the obverse by chisel cut. The reason for the slashing has been explained by different ways: to examine the alloy of the core of the coin; to erase the foreign authority; to erase the monetary character of the coin; iconoclastic reasons of religious origin.

"Goad to the heroes" alluding to the elephant-god of the Cheras.

Vijanagar Empire

Rajadhiraja II 1173-1182 AD
AR tara, 1,92 grams, 10,5-12,5 mm
Obv.: Lion walking left, with itīs tail curled on itīs back and forepaw raised. A sword placed horizontally above it. The entire motif is enclosed in two concentric circles.
Rev.: Legend in three lines - Sri Rajadhi Raja. Cresented moon and sun on either sides of Sri.

AR Tara, 1,92 grams
Same as above, but without moon and sun on either sides of Sri.
